Winston-Salem-based WFDD-FM is planning changes to its lineup. The station is set to move some shows to other time slots, as well as consolidating its news and arts staff.
According to WFDD's assistant general manager, Molly Davis, the four members of the ‘Triad Arts’ team (Eddie Garcia, David Ford, Quique Rodriguez-Pastor, and Bethany Chafin) will appear throughout the day on the station's news segments. The last segment of ‘Triad Arts’ will be on February 24; starting in March, the four will work on more in-depth stories of arts events in the region.
The ‘Triad Arts Weekend’ program aired on Fridays at 1:00 pm. In its place, the station is airing the second hour of the program ‘Here and Now’. The ‘Triad Arts Weekend’ broadcast that held the 4:00 pm Sunday spot will be replaced by the program ‘Bullseye with Jesse Thorn’, which the station calls a “curated guide to culture”, featuring criticism, interviews, and comedy.
Other changes including moving ‘Tavis Smiley’ to 10:00 am Sundays from 7:00 pm Fridays, moving ‘Marketplace Weekend’ to Sundays at 11:00 am, and moving ‘Ask Me Another’ to Saturdays at 4:00 p.m.
Finally, two of the station's lower-rated programs will be dropped completely, namely ‘Studio 360’ and ‘Jazz Night in America’.
Although regular listeners will know about these changes, station management could work with a flyer printing company on a mailer for area residents announcing the new lineup.
