Several special events will be coming to Winston-Salem next month.
The Artist Fellowship Exhibition for 2018-2019 of the North Carolina Arts Council features the work of 21 of the best contemporary artists working today, among which are three choreographers, three film/video artists, three craft artists, and 12 visual artists.
Fellowships have been awarded by the council since 1980 to artists working in various fields who have been selected through a rigorous screening process. The exhibit will be at the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art (SECCA) in Winston-Salem with an opening reception on Thursday February 13 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm, and the exhibit runs through Sunday, June 7.
Also at SECCA during the month of February will be an oil on canvas, measuring two feet wide by three feet long, titled “Young Guy From Lima Confused About His Past.” Print shops are often hired to create Promotional Products to advertise such exhibits to the public.
A Pops Series concert presenting the work of John Williams will be presented by Winston-Salem Symphony, conducted by Timothy Redmond. The concert will be celebrating Williams by performing pieces from his well-known movie soundtracks, including Indiana Jones, Harry Potter, and Star Wars. Williams has received 51 Academy Award nominations, the second most after Walt Disney.
The concert will take place at Reynolds Auditorium on Saturday, February 15 and Sunday, February 16 at 7:30 pm.
