Rap concert to come to Raleigh

Rapper Wale will be performing in Raleigh this January. The event will be a part of his Under a Blue Moon Tour.

Olubowale Victor Akintimehin, otherwise known as Wale (pronounced WAH-ley), is an American rapper who was born in Northwest, Washington, D.C. His parents are both native Nigerians, or more specifically, they are a part of the Yoruba ethnic group. He joined the label, Allido Records, in 2007, after meeting with English DJ and producer Mark Ronson. From there, his fame began to rise as he and his music began to be found in MTV and Black-focused magazines.

The 37-year-old musician then signed with two more labels, Interscope Records (2008) and Maybach Music Group (2011). The first albums he released during these times (Attention Deficit and Ambition) found a band of appreciative followers, but it was the follow-ups (The Gifted and The Album About Nothing) that garnered critical acclaim and hit the top of the Billboard 200 list. More about the rapper and the opportunity to buy T-shirts and other merchandise, each with a different graphic design, can be found on his site.
