Raleigh theater to hold Nutcracker performance

Nutcracker with a Twist will come to Raleigh next month. The performance is family-friendly, and it will be put on by DanceArt Studio, a local dance school.

The Nutcracker is a two-part ballet first performed in the 19th century. It is adapted from a fairy tale and features a score by the renowned Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. The story follows Clara and her imaginative adventure on Christmas Eve.

Though the Nutcracker is traditionally performed with classical ballet, DanceArt will put its own unique twist. Guests can expect other dance styles incorporated into the performance. Also, the musical accompaniment will differ from how it is traditionally done, as it will include the use of a quintet brass band and acapella singers. Performances like these usually employ brochure printing to provide more information for guests at the event.

While at the performance, guests are also expected to follow COVID-19 protocols. This means all attendees must wear a face mask while they are seated at the venue.

Nutcracker with a Twist will take place on Saturday, December 4 at 2:00 PM. It will happen at the Memorial Auditorium at Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts, which is located at 2 East South Street. Tickets to the event are $16. Anyone with more questions can call Duke Energy Center at 919-996-8700.
