Raleigh area receives weather prediction
Groundhog Day predicts how much longer winter will be, and the Raleigh area will be celebrating this tradition for another year.
To mark the occasion, White Deer Park will be welcoming families for a special day of activities and other fun, and the guest of honor will be Snerd, the venue’s resident groundhog. She will pop out to make her traditional annual prediction.
The visitors to the park will be able to view its live animals, and they can learn more about the natural world in their local area at the information booths. Smokey the Bear will be on hand to meet the kids and provide tips for preventing forest fires, and a storyteller will take to the stage to entertain the kids. Snerd will make her prediction at 3:00 pm sharp, and there will be crafting stations as well. The organizers of the afternoon can be contacted at 919.773.4442.
A special event can make learning about nature entertaining as well as educational, and planners may choose to have materials prepared. Stationery printers will be happy to help, and can prepare everything from letterheads for sponsorship requests to activity books for the kids.
Snerd will be sharing her prediction for the season ahead next Sunday, February 2. The festivities planned in honor of the occasion will begin at 1:00 pm.
