Popular Mozart opera to be presented in Raleigh

The Memorial Auditorium will host a performance of the classic opera 'The Magic Flute'. This show will take place in April.

“The Magic Flute” was based on a libretto by Emmanuel Schikaneder and composed by Mozart . It tells the story of Prince Tamino and how he goes to rescue the Queen of the Night’s daughter from Sarastro. It features iconic characters, catchy music, and the well-known piece “Queen of the Night.”

The opera's first premiere took place on September 30, 1791. From there, it drew large crowds for the hundreds of shows performed at the venue. The popularity level of the opera was high enough that two composers were inspired to create sequels.

In the modern day, The Magic Flute is still one of the most commonly performed operas. Many films, Books, plays, and other works of art have paid tribute to or were directly inspired by it.

For this production, the music will be sung in the original German, but the dialogue will be in English. Prince Tamino will be played by Joseph Dennis. Rainelle Krause will play as the Queen of the Night.

The performance will take place on Sunday, April 10, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. The Memorial Auditorium is located at 2 East South Street. Performances like this one may benefit from the promotional boost they can get from brochure printing services.
