Fort Mill in South Carolina, a town just across the state border from Pineville, will commence the holding of its annual South Carolina Strawberry Festival this weekend.
The theme for this year’s event will be ‘Berry’s Beach Bash’ and will include shag dancing and live beach music. For those who want to learn this official dance of South Carolina, there will be a mini-workshop and possibly even a contest. Also planned is a wing-eating competition held in conjunction with Puckerbutt Pepper Co., which boasts the world’s hottest pepper as certified by Guinness World Records.
No doubt organizers of the event are turning to many printing services to let those in the area know of the special activities planned for this fifth anniversary of the event.
Many traditional activities will also be featured at the festival. It begins with the South Carolina Strawberry Festival Pageant, and further attractions include a pancake breakfast, pig races, the recipe contest, a golf tournament, a talent contest, and strawberry picking on Springfield Parkway, after which there will be a family-friendly movie outdoors.
Tens of thousands of people now come to the Festival every year, and the locations of several events have been moved to accommodate the larger crowds.
This signature event of Fort Mill will be held from this Friday, April 25, until Saturday, May 3.
