School supply drive underway in Pineville region

The Herald and its sister community newspapers – the Fort Mill Times, the Lake Wylie Pilot and the Enquirer-Herald in York and Clover – are holding their annual school supply drive and working with educational districts in their areas to collect school supplies for children from less fortunate families.

Schools reopen their doors within the next few weeks in Rock Hill and Fort Mill, South Carolina – towns just over the border from Pineville – and back-to-school shopping is in full swing.

There have been donation Boxes spread out at the school administrative offices, several banks, and churches in the towns, and two districts have reported excellent responses.

Poster printing and flyer printing might have been used to promote this school supply drive to people in the respective communities and the surrounding areas.

According to the Rock Hill coordinator of community services, Serena Williams, Notebooks, book Bags, folders, binders, Pens and Pencils, pencil sharpeners, composition Books, glue sticks, and hand sanitizers have been donated, as well as several hundred dollars in cash to pay for supplies.

There has been similar success in the Fort Mill School District. Executive director of the Foundation for Fort Mill Schools, Caryn Scroggs, reported that several groups have promised over 200 book Bags with assorted supplies, and will be turning them in at the end of the drive.
