Several free programs are being offered at the York County Library in Rock Hill, which is just over the border between South and North Carolina, so that residents of Pineville might want to take advantage of these activities.
An open mic night for kids between the ages of 11 and 17 will be held from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm on July 6. Participants can show their various talents in a café-style atmosphere as prizes will be awarded in several categories. Refreshments will be provided, and friends and family are invited to attend. The number of performers is limited to 15, so those who are interested need to register in advance and describe their talent.
Also, Chad Crews will hold a Super Reader Extravaganza for kids between the ages of 3 and 11 on July 8 at 10:30 am, 1:30 pm, and 4:00 pm. Kids and their families will watch a few magical surprises, along with powers of the mind and amazing feats of strength. Children will learn that they can do all kinds of things, go on many adventures, and meet all sorts of people through reading. A super critter or two will join in the fun along with lots of music, comedy, storytelling, audience participation, music, and magic designed to encourage young children to read.
