A Pineville event will recognize and honor the sacrifice of a local firefighter next spring.
The Richard Sheltra Memorial 10K, 5K, and fun run will pay tribute to area firefighters and other first responders while raising funds for the foundation that carries his name. The monies will be used to provide resources such as equipment and scholarships for those who volunteer to help others, and everyone is encouraged to put on their sneakers and enjoy the day.
The celebration will open with a special ceremony, and this will be followed by the start time for the 10K runners. Once they have set off, the 5K group will get started, and the fun runners will be the filial group to hit the road. An awards ceremony will follow, and during this portion of the function, medals will be distributed to the top finishers in a variety of categories.
This sort of activity can be a lot of fun while raising money for a cause. The Logo Design of the companies that have chosen to sponsor the celebration have been included in the website set up for the race.
April 24, 2021 has been set as the date for this salute to local first responders, and it will begin at 7:00 am. The staging area will be located at 1000 Johnston Drive in Pineville.
