A fundraising race will help the Richard Sheltra Memorial Foundation to continue its work in supporting local firefighting volunteers.
The proceeds from the Richard Sheltra Memorial 10K will be used to help purchase safety equipment and fund scholarships and other programs for volunteer firefighters. The participants can choose from a 5K or 10K run, and a fun run will also be on offer.
This Pineville fundraiser, which was originally planned for the spring, has been rescheduled to the fall. The day will kick off with an opening ceremony, and after this, the 10K and 5K runners will hit the pavement. They will be followed by the participants in the fun run, and once everyone has crossed the finish line, there will be an awards ceremony and opportunity for the runners to socialize and have fun.
The 5K and 10K routes will be chip timed, and finisher’s medals with a special Logo Design will be presented in various age categories. The race will take place rain or shine, and thanks to music supplied by Audio Masters, the whole event will be a high-energy affair.
This annual opportunity for Pineville to give a tip of the hat to its firefighters has been rescheduled to September 12, having originally been planned for late April. The staging area will be located at the Belle Johnston Community Center.
