A hike in the woods offers a way for families to welcome spring, and a Pineville area greenspace is set to host just such an activity.
The Philadelphia Wagon Road was once followed by the pointers who chose to settle in the Carolinas, and a route that follows part of this trail will serve as the venue for a family walk. A guide will lead the outing, and while all ages can take part, it was noted that as the terrain will be rough with uneven ground and tree roots, it is not suitable for strollers or those who need a mobility device.
The planner of the hike explained that it is currently open to members only, and those who register are asked to meet at the Founder’s Dairy Barn located at 288 Dairy Barn Lane before they head out. It is scheduled to run for approximately one and half hours, and everyone is reminded to wear sturdy shoes and appropriate clothing.
Even though an outing like this may be a guided activity, offering the registrants materials that supply them with details about the plants and animals they may spot along the way can help them to gain even more from their participation.
