Pineville golf tourney to take aim at cancer

A Pineville area day of fundraising will give area golfers an excuse to enjoy some fun with friends while helping to support a cause.

The Tap Cancer Out Charity Golf Classic will raise money to be donated to a group of charities that take aim at cancer in both kids and adults. A goal of contributing at least $50,00 has been set, and it will be held at Firethorne Country Club in Marvin.

The organizers of the tournament explained that the activity will be different to a typical golf fundraiser. Everyone is asked to sign up as a foursome, and if they collectively raise at least $1,000, there will be no registration fee. If they do not reach this goal, their credit card will be charged. Additional monies will mean additional perks, and these include additional raffle tickets, Promotional Products and other items.

The play will open with a shotgun start, and sponsorship packages are available for the local business community. More information and a chance to register a team can be found online, and donations to the cause will be gratefully accepted.

This outside-the-box golf tourney will be on offer on Monday, April 17th. Check in for the day will open at 8:30 am, and the play will kick off at 10:00 am following a welcome and some brief instructions.
