Pineville becomes home to new Walmart

Many new employees are beginning to work this month at the Walmart Neighborhood Market off the Pineville-Matthews Road in Pineville. This will be the first Walmart in Pineville.

The retail giant is planning to hire 95 full-time and part-time workers for the store. Most likely, some of them will want to use business card printing so they can have a way to promote the store and their new place of employment.

The store is over 45,000 square feet in size and located next to Staples in the McMullen Creek Market. The Neighborhood Market is Walmart’s version of a traditional supermarket. In the Neighborhood Market are a variety of frozen foods, fresh groceries, meats, and a pharmacy. The one in Pineville also offers an automated/coin-op service, Minute Key, a Rug Doctor, Redbox for rental of CDs and DVDs, Coinstar, and a garden center.

Walmart has been building many of these stores in the region and has become one of the biggest grocery chains in the Charlotte area, beating out Harris Teeter, according to Chain Store Guide.

A spokesperson for the company, Amanda Henneberg, said North Carolina and the Charlotte area have been very receptive to the concept of the Neighborhood Market stores. The company is looking forward to bringing its customers the benefits of Walmart closer to where they live and work, Henneberg added.
