Seminars to showcase kayak fishing techniques
Two free workshops will be held later this month by the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission to help anglers develop new fishing skills.
The workshops will be held in Fayetteville at the John E. Pechmann Fishing Education Center across from Lake Rim.
This is the Fourth Annual Kayak Fish and Float Workshop that spans two days over a weekend. For the first workshop, participants will learn about the basics of kayaking to fish for mackerel and bass, kayak rigging, and safety and onshore kayak fishing. This will be presented by instructors Mark Patterson and Jerry Dilsaver of the North Carolina Kayak Fishing Association.
During the second workshop, there will be a Bass Fishing Seminar hosted by the Commission, joined by Reel Men Fishing Team members. Jim Sheehan, a member of the team, will talk about using jigs for bass fishing and another member of the team, Mike Nadeau, will give a talk on bass fishing using plastics.
The first workshop will be on April 11 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, while the second will be on April 14 from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm. The Commission will no doubt be looking to flyer printing companies to help them with the creation of flyers and mailers to be sent to anglers in the community to inform them of these workshops.
