The Marathon Jam fundraiser to help the Fort Bragg Fisher House, which is located just outside of Fayetteville, will be held later this month.
During a Marathon Jam, musicians and attendees gather together for one day to support members of the service and their families as they recover from injuries sustained in the line of duty.
According to musician and author John Santa, those who want to sit with the musicians and play are asked to bring a donation of $200. This can be done by asking 10 friends to be a sponsor with a donation of $20 each. By doing this, the fundraiser can meet or even exceed the $15,000 that was generated last year.
The Fisher House Foundation provides comfort homes for the military and veterans’ families, where they can stay at no charge while someone in their family is being treated and recovering at major military and Veterans Administration medical centers. Suites include private baths and bedrooms, a common kitchen and dining room, laundry facilities, and a living room.
This year’s jam will be held at the American Legion Post 6 in Chapel Hill on February 28, beginning at 1:00 pm and running for the next 12 hours. Local flyer printing companies may be asked to donate their printing services to create Flyers and other marketing materials to draw attention to this annual event.Get a Free Quote for Flyers
