Fayetteville anglers who are just getting their hip waders wet can pick up some new skills during an upcoming daylong workshop on fly fishing.
A clinic that will help newbie fly fishers to land a big one will soon be on offer at the John E, Pechmann Fishing Education Center, and the learners will be taught using the Joan Wuff instructional methods. It is being offered free of charge, and will provide a fun introduction to what may become a lifetime hobby.
A trained group of volunteers will guide the assembled learners through a variety of topics, such as overhead and roll casting styles, as well as equipment, line knots, and how to actually land a fish once they catch one. It will be a hands-on event, and the students will even be able to get some in-the-water experience.
Registration for this activity is now open, and learners rods may be available for anyone who needs one. Field guides that offer additional tips as well as advice for the care of tackle and other gear can be obtained from a local printing services company to give to the registrants during this type of learning activity.
The Beginning Fly Fishing Clinic will be held at 7489 Raeford Rd in Fayetteville on January 2, 2021. Registration will close at 11:59 pm on January 1.
