Novice and intermediate anglers, as well as Boy Scouts who want to earn their Merit Badge in Fly Fishing, will be able to do so by taking one of the free clinics on the hobby that will be offered by the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission at the John E. Pechmann Fishing Education Center in Fayetteville this winter.
Instruction on knot tying, fly fishing equipment, and the method of fly casting developed by Joan Wulff will be provided by volunteers trained in these areas. In the afternoon part of the course, instruction will be on the water and participants will learn how to use a fly rod to catch fish.
No more than 40 people are allowed for each clinic on a ‘first come, first served’ basis, and those who want to attend need to register in advance. Registration is limited to one clinic per person.
The Pechmann Center has announced additional courses for the month of February and may be using a local Print company to print Flyers with more information about all the fly fishing clinics during the winter.
It will also have an intermediate fly fishing clinic that will introduce attendees to to using the shooting line, false casting, line-hand, and casting on all planes.
