What's Happening in Fayetteville, NC…

Fayetteville invited to tour goat farm

The agricultural sector continues to be one of Fayetteville's economic drivers, and a local operation will be offering a sneak peek behind the farm gate.

The N.C. Cooperative Extension/Cumberland County Center has organized a tour of Ithika Acres Creamery, which raises goats for milk. Transportation will be provided, and the meet-up point will be located at 301 East Mountain Drive in Fayetteville.

During the guided tour, attendees will be introduced to the process of making cheese and lotions using goat milk. They will be led on a tour of the farm, meet the goats, and sample an assortment of cheeses. They will even be offered the opportunity to do some taste testing and try their hand at milking a goat. The farm store will be open, and everyone will receive a sample of lotion.

As the attendees will be walking through farm fields, they are advised to wear comfortable and sturdy footwear. Disability accommodations may be available, but arrangements for these must be made at least 10 days in advance.

A farm tour or other agricultural activity gives the public a chance to see where their food comes from. A brochure printing company can prepare materials to hand out to the participants in an event.

This Goat Farm Tour, which is part of the Better Living Series, will hit the road at 9:00 am on Wednesday, November 20, and everyone asked to arrive by 8:45 am. The registration fee is $25 each.
