Named for Marquis de Lafayette, the city of Fayetteville has a storied history, and those who join in a gathering that will celebrate the aristocrat’s birthday will also explore the community's past.
While other cities may have been named after the Marquis, Fayetteville was the first. The Lafayette's Grand Birthday Ball and Soiree will offer period-style activities that would have been in vogue during his life and times, and it is being hosted by Beespoke Vintage.
The evening will see its guests led through reels and waltzes, and the caller will be in Regency dress. There will be card games, as well as skittles and dominoes, and everyone can have their portrait taken and their silhouette painted, put their ballroom etiquette knowledge to the test, and have their fortune read.
Along with the activities, guests will be able to view historical exhibits, and the General himself may even make an appearance to share stories of his life and enjoy some cake with the attendees.
A historically themed activity may benefit from the services of a banner printing company. It can provide decorations that can add to the period flavor of an event.
This happy birthday to the Marquis de Lafayette will take a step back in time on Saturday, September 9. The festivities will be getting into full swing starting at 7:00 pm.
