Fayetteville area wheat farmers to benefit from online update

Fayetteville area farmers who have chosen to plant a wheat crop this fall may benefit from an online offering that will kick off a series hosted by North Carolina State Extension specialists.

The “Pre-Plant Strategies for Wheat” workshop will be a one-hour long update intended for those who want to get their fall wheat crop off to a good start. Although it will be offered using a virtual format, the participants will still be able to ask questions, and they will also have a chance to discuss the topic with the other attendees.

The presenters for the activity will be Dr. Angela Post and Dr. Everyman, and both will share their expertise. Dr. Everyman will discuss pre-planting strategies that can reduce the weed growth in a particular plot, while Dr. Post will offer tips that can give a wheat crop a flying start. This will be the first instalment of a series planned for those who grow cereal crops.

When preparing to offer an online event like this, it can be a good idea to ensure it is also promoted “in the real world”. A poster printing company will be able to lend a hand, and the materials it produces can be posted in various locations throughout the community.

The information session planned with wheat growers in mind will be held on September 25. It is scheduled to begin at 8:00 am.
