While lots of people have heard about the annual ball drop that takes place in NYC on New Year’s Eve, the same may not be said for a similar celebration that will be gracing the Fayetteville area this year.
Each December 31, Eastover’s Giant Flea makes its ascent to the top of Eastover Community Center where it will wait until it is dropped to ring in the new year. It will be making its climb and drop again to greet 2020, and this family friendly night is open to everyone.
Jasper, which is the name by which the flea is affectionately known, is made from ceramic and is three feet tall and will be taking pride of place during the community’s New Year’s Eve celebrations. The agenda for the occasion also includes lots of other fun, and previous functions have included a cannon firing, dancing, moon pie eating competitions and even a chance to learn more about local history.
By offering an unusual experience, this sort of community gathering can give a city a way to stand out from the crowd. A banner printing company can prepare decor that features a function's Logo Design, and these can be helpful in spreading the word about the celebration.
Jasper is set to make his yearly climb and drop on December 31. The festivities are scheduled to kick off at the Eastover Community Center at 10:00 pm.
