Family-friendly fishing clinic planned for Fayetteville

A Fayetteville program will help parents and kids get ready to cast their line early next month.

The participants in this introductory workshop will learn the basics of fishing, including the importance of following sustainable practices. Parents participate along with their children, and it will be three hours long.

During the sessions, the attendees will learn how to prepare for a fishing outing, and setting up a casting reel and rod will be discussed. After this, they will be taught how to tie a basic knot to use when they fish, and instruction in casting off and other techniques will be shared. The lesson will wrap up with tips for handling fish so that it can be returned to the water with a minimum of stress to the animal.

The activity will take place at the John E. Pechmann Fishing Education Center. Registration for the event is free of charge.

Teaching families the fundamentals of fishing will make it easier for them to enjoy the hobby for themselves. Stationery printers will be able to design and produce certificates to give to each future angler who takes part in a related workshop or other learning activity.

The date for the Family Fishing Workshop will be April 2, and it will begin at 9:00 am. Its registration system will be open for sign-ups until April 1.
