In 2004, Concord won the All-America City Award, which is given to only ten communities in the United States each year. The National Civil League makes the selections in order to honor those communities whose residents are able to work together to identify and solve problems facing them, while doing so in an innovative way. The All-America Award is the oldest program in the United States that recognizes community achievement.
NASCAR!
Concord is home to the Charlotte Motor Speedway and a number of concerns related to NASCAR racing. In 2003, the NASCAR Research and Development Center opened, signaling to the world of motorsports that the event was serious about safety and the future of racing.
The center is the first of its kind to be owned and operated by a body that sanctions a major sport, and comprises of 61,000 square feet and cost $10m to develop. NASCAR plans to devote many more millions to its efforts to enhance competition, contain costs, and promote safety. Since the center is relatively new and represents something unique in racing, management might want to work with brochure printers to create a booklet explaining the center's objectives and operations.
In addition to the track and the research center, several professional racers and teams are located here. They include Earnhardt Ganassi Racing, Hendrick Motorsports, Richard Petty Motorsports and Roush Fenway Racing. Bruton Smith, who heads up the company Speedway Motorsports, built the racetrack in 1959. Also involved in the racing scene is Windshear, Inc., a company that operates a wind tunnel that racing companies can use to test their cars' aerodynamics.
All of these enterprises combine to make Concord a well-known center of auto racing. In the tradition of such sports, officials at these various organizations could work with banner printing experts to have flags and Signs made for use at races. They might also consider hanging Banners in the speedway to cheer on their teams.
Living in the Piedmont
The Piedmont area of the state is heavily forested and has green, rolling hills. Left on its own, land here will return to a forested state very quickly. The warm weather and mild winters made North Carolina a mecca for tourists, who enjoy the warmth as much as the racing.
Hotels and motels in Concord could work with flyer printing companies to create handouts to be distributed downtown, describing their accommodations. The historic Hotel Concord, which dates from the early 1900s and is decorated in the Art Deco style, might want to work with a postcard printing company to design cards to supply to guests.
Downtown Concord
The city's downtown boasts a number of historic homes from the late 1800s and early 1900s, whose owners take pride in maintaining the buildings in accordance with their architectural history. Part of downtown area is actually designated the North Union Historic District.
City officials might consider working with a poster printing company to create Posters for display in the district, so that visitors can identify the properties. In addition, tourists can enjoy the numerous restaurants, shops and boutiques throughout the downtown area.Get a Free Quote for Posters Get a Free Quote for Signs Get a Free Quote for Banners
