The Safety Award of Excellence from the American Public Power Association (APPA) for safe operating practices last year has been awarded to the City of Concord Electric Systems.
News of such prestigious awards can be disseminated throughout a city with flyer printing.
The diamond level was given to Concord Electric Systems for utilities with 110,000 to 249,999 worker-hours in a year. Working on electric lines can be dangerous as crews are often required to handle high voltage power lines and work with heavy machinery with power lines both underground and 100 feet in the air through all types of extreme temperatures inclement weather so that electricity can be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Director of Concord Electric Systems, Alex Burris, said that the award demonstrates the dedication and hard work of all those on the team who are committed to safely delivering power to businesses and homes in the community. Burris added that their jobs are demanding and at times dangerous. He expressed his pride in the entire team for always supporting each other and achieving the highest standards in the industry.
Chair of the Safety Committee of the APPA and Vice-President of Electric Cities of Georgia, Jon Beasley, said that the recipients of these safety awards prove that consistency and commitment strengthen communities, save lives, and establish a benchmark for the entire industry.
