An investment of $18.4m by Xerox in Cary will enable the creation of 600 new jobs.
Governor Roy Cooper said that most of these new jobs will have an average salary of over $112,000. Such jobs often require the use of business card printing services.
The investment is made possible by taxpayer-funded incentives of over $13.6m over a period of 12 years with the promise to create these new jobs. The creation of these jobs is expected to add an estimated $1.7bn over the 12 years of incentives to the economy of North Carolina. The state government is providing most of the funding but there are also contributions from the North Carolina Community College System, the Town of Cary, and Wake County.
Chief technology officer of Xerox, Naresh Shankar, said many of the jobs will be in technology. Shankar added that it was logical for the company to invest in North Carolina as the company will now be able to build a pool of talent, and benefit from a community of rapid growth.
The Governor added that Xerox is already collaborating with Wake Technical Community College to create and offer a bespoke program to train future workers for these new positions. He said that Xerox chose North Carolina for this expansion due its quality of life and educational system.
