Lantern festival returns to Cary
The annual Chinese Lantern Festival is now running at the Koka Booth Amphitheatre in Cary.
The festival features thousands of LED lights and strobe lighting that illuminate the amphitheatre. This is a signature and popular event in Cary that blends modern technology with traditional Chinese artistry to create a festive and enchanting experience for everyone.
A walkthrough festival of illuminated lanterns with various themes, the lanterns are made in the Sichuan province in Zigong, which has been known for many centuries as the lantern capital of China. Over 15 tractor-trailers are needed to deliver materials to the visiting artisans who assemble the 36 groupings of the lanterns in the festival.
Such unique and extraordinary events can make use of brochure printing to help visitors guide their way through such venues.
The festival is produced by the town of Cary in partnership with Tianyu Arts & Culture Inc. ABC11 is once again a sponsor of the festival. The festival was first introduced in 2015 and has grown to over 200,000 visitors a year from six countries and all 50 states of the United States. An extra week has been added to the festival, reflecting its popularity.
The Lantern Festival runs through Sunday January 12. A sensory-friendly night will be held on Tuesday December 3 with no flashing or strobe lights, lower decibels for the music, and a designated quiet area.
