High school and college basketball teams to compete in special event

First Flight High School in Kill Devil Hills will be hosting the second annual Good Guys vs. Cancer Showcase, where high school basketball programs from the local area around Cary will be playing against those who are nationally ranked.

The event is also partnering with The Hoop State Network so that the game can be live streamed. The Hoop State Network places a heavy emphasis on featuring high-quality North Carolina athletes.

Chad Williams, coach of the basketball team at First Flight High School, started this series of games in honor of his father, Guy Williams, who lost a fight to cancer. The American Cancer Society will receive proceeds of the ticket sales from this event. Such events and their causes are often promoted throughout a region by poster printing.

There will be 21 teams from the local area, including Plymouth, Farmville Central, East Carteret, and Trinity Christian. Ocracoke, First Flight, Pasquotank, and Manteo will be among those taking the floor from the Outer Banks. The nationally ranked players will feature Isaiah Todd from Michigan and a Top 10 prospect, as well as Henry Coleman from Duke and a Top 35 prospect.

Sponsors of the event include First National Bank, BSN Sports, Pizzazz Pizza, and OBX Chevy Buick. The Showcase will take place from Friday, December 13 to Saturday, December 14.
