Former shopping mall to be developed as mixed-use facility
Cary Towne Center, which was purchased by Turnbridge Equities in 2019, is soon to be demolished and rebuilt as a mixed-use development with office, residential, hotel, outdoor, and retail spaces.
The new development will be called Carolina Yards and is going to feature up to 1.2 million square feet of office space, with finished ceilings reaching 10 feet high and abundant windows. There will be 160,000 square feet of retail space for leasing, as well as 1,800 residential units in a range of finishes and sizes. These units will have many kinds of outdoor space, including courtyards, roof decks, and balconies, and will be near landscaped open green spaces and several walking and bike trails.

Managing principal of Turnbridge Equities, Jason Davis, said that the space will be completely reimagined and redeveloped. He added that the availability of the mixed-use spaces will provide an experience that is outdoors and walkable, with a variety of areas for both active and passive recreational activities.
Davis said that the property has a great deal of potential as it is in the center of the Research Triangle, which is growing rapidly.
Groundbreaking is expected to take place in February 2021.
