The Cary Town Council recently considered and voted on several items at their last meeting.
The first issue that was discussed was amending zoning for part of the Village at the Park Planned Development District. The amendment was looking to change the zoning of both residential and office and retail space to allow for between 15,000 and 19,000 square feet of office/retail space and no more than 300 townhouse or multifamily dwellings.
There would also be limits on the number of parking spaces for the retail and office sections and on the heights of the various buildings, as well as requirements for landscaping for the residential buildings. The proposed amendment was approved by both the Planning and Zoning Board and by the Town Council.
A public hearing was held on the expansion of the Triangle Aquatic Center. The land is currently zoned so that a 70,000 square feet building can be added to the property but the plans for the expansion call for a building spanning 100,000 square feet to be built. It would have facilities for both indoor and activities and more parking. The buffer around the facility would be reduce by 15 feet.
The Planning and Zoning Board would make a recommendation on this proposal.
