Cary to celebrate Chinese new year

The Koka Booth Amphitheatre in Cary will be celebrating the Chinese New Year later this month with a bright and colorful lantern display.

This lantern festivals will have over 40 distinct displays including a magnificent Chinese dragon. This dragon is longer than three school buses, weighs over 18,000lb, and a crew of 15 people is required to install the head. In Chinese Culture, lanterns are symbols of good luck, social status, and vitality with each lantern color holding a different meaning.

Organizers of such events often turn to local Print shops to create Flyers with more information about such lantern displays and their cultural meanings.

The festival will feature performances every night on the main stage at 6:30, 7:30, and 8:30 pm. On Fridays and Saturdays, there will be food trucks on site with beverage and food stands open every night. Parking is free and the event takes place rain or shine.

Tickets for the festival can be purchased in advance for any night to allow for flexibility in people’s schedules and to give as a gift. There are Twilight tickets available at an extra cost that allow people to enjoy the lanterns during the Golden Hour, which starts 90 minutes before the opening on any given night.

The celebration will run nightly from Friday, November 18 through Sunday, January 8 from 6:00 to 10:00 pm.
