Toni Dezomits has been named the next Chief of Police for the town of Cary.
Former chief Tony Godwin has retired from the position, and Dezomits, who had been serving as interim police chief, has now made the position her own. Banner printing can be used throughout towns to make the community aware of such appointments.
Dezomits joined the Cary Police Department in 1998 and was a patrol officer. She has served in many roles since then, including sniper on the SWAT team, field operations officer, professional standards commander, and assistant police chief.
Sean Stegall, Town Manager, commented that Dezomits impresses everyone with her hard work and that she demonstrates the culture of the town at every possible opportunity. He added that she has the potential to positively influence people in many ways. Allan Cain, Director of Public Safety, commented that the women and men of the Cary Police Department respect her and consider her an exceptional leader.
Dezomits is a graduate of the University of Phoenix with a degree in criminal justice. She is a veteran of the United States Army and hold several certifications including as a laser instructor, specialized fitness instructor, and law enforcement general instructor.
The town of Cary Police Department is nationally accredited and has 238 staff members, including 195 who are sworn officers.
