Cary plans new indoor sports complex

The town of Cary is planning to build a major project that will help to overhaul the town.

The town is currently planning to construct a community center and indoor sports complex. The plans call for a building that will be four stories in height and have a multi-use Esport gaming arena, spaces to hold conferences, and over 100,000 square feet of courts for playing a variety of sports. It would be located in a new mixed-use development.

Banner printing used at such sites can be one way to inform residents of such upcoming important projects.

Director of community projects for Cary, Doug McRainey, expressed his excitement about the location of the new project as it will encourage tourism and people to stay in hotels. He added that the region has few indoor sports venues for events and tournaments and this would attract visitors to stay in hotels in the area and dine at local restaurants.

An amount of $75 million has been approved by town officials for this project. The remaining costs for the project will come from a bond on which the town will need to vote. McRainey said that this is just one of several major planned developments that will be coming to town.

A specific design for the project needs to be created with construction of the project to follow. A completion date of mid-2028 is set for the project.
