Forbes partnered with Statista, a firm that does market research, to survey more than 140,000 employees based in the United States who work at companies in a variety of sectors and those which employ at least 1,00 people. Over 10,000 college students from across the country were also surveyed as part of this effort.
The Forbes report said that the students were asked which employers they considered to be their ideal employers and then were asked to rate the excitement level based on receiving a job offer for that company. Students were also asked about the appeal level of an employer based on such criteria as compensation, quality of work, reputation of the company, and growth opportunities.
The employees were asked about their ideal employers, and whether they would be a supporter of a previous employer within the last two years or their current employer. Employees currently working at a company were also asked to evaluate their employer based on factors such as workplace flexibility, their ability to openly express their ideas, and opportunities for professional development.
