The Cary Housing and the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Annual Action Draft Plan for 2024-2025 has been approved by the Cary Town Council.
This approval recommends that $7.3m be awarded to support housing in Cary. Of this funding, $2.195m will be for new housing opportunities, $2.03m will be for housing rehabilitation, $1.2m will be for housing stability support, and $1.864m will be for non-profit capacity building.
The preservation of 29 existing affordable homes and the construction of 226 new affordable housing units will be facilitated by this funding. In addition, 446 people will be assisted in maintaining the stability of their housing and building the capacity of non-profit organizations that focus on community development and housing.
News of such funding and its benefit for many in the community can be made known throughout a town with flyer printing services.
Director of Housing and Community Partnerships, Heather Whelehan, expressed her gratitude to the partners in the community who are carrying out this important work that will support the residents of Cary. She added that this funding demonstrates the commitment of the town to ensuring it has an impact for the entire continuum of housing.
The town’s draft plan now needs to be submitted to the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development for final approval.
