Cary accepts nominations for spirit award
Nominations are for the Hometown Spirit Award in Cary are open for the next couple of weeks.
Given every year since 2009, the award recognizes a resident of the town who enhances its quality of life by promoting, preserving, and carrying out quantifiable and positive small-town community traits and values.
Those who are eligible for the award need to be citizens of Cary and must be 21 years of age or older. They should also demonstrate integrity and leadership and be respected by their peers. Additional traits considered include:
• preserving and promoting traditional American pastimes
• demonstrating hospitality
• serving the community through business
• demonstrating patriotism through the preservation and promotion of the symbols of the country, and dedication to the United States military, past and present
• helping neighbors and other citizens of Cary
• promoting a sense of community in their neighborhood and all of Cary
• showing concern for preservation and working to preserve traditions in the atmosphere of a small town
So that residents of such towns have more information about qualifications and the submission process, local print shops are often sought after for flyers and other printed materials.
Nominations can be submitted online until Friday, September 20. On Monday, November 18, there will be a reception to recognize the three finalists, and the recipient will be given the award by Mayor Harold Weinbrecht, Jr.
