Missoula to teach nature journaling techniques

The Montana Natural History Center (MNHC) will offer a lesson on nature journaling at Greenough Park in Missoula.

Nature Journaling with Nancy Seiler: Event Mapping is a program where artists can learn how to closely observe their surroundings through drawings. The technique is a reflective practice that has people draw simple cartoons of what they see during a walk. Attendees are asked to bring items like watercolor brushes, micron Pens, and water containers for painting. People should also bring water to drink, a snack, and paper towels for drying their brushes.

Nancy Seiler is an experienced artist who began teaching nature journaling classes in 2003. She earned a degree in visual communications from The Art Institute of Pittsburgh in 1981. Her work has been displayed at many venues throughout Missoula, like Prudential Montana Real Estate, the Russell E. Smith Courthouse, and The Gallery at 4th and Oak. Seiler was also included in publications such as AcrylicWorks, The Best of Acrylic Painting.

The course on nature journaling will be on Friday, July 7th from 9:00 am to noon. The cost is $25 per person, though discounts will be given to members of the MNHC. The program is held at the Greenough Park Picnic Shelter. Art instructors in charge of events such as this can bring Business Cards to their workshops to share with students.
