Missoula expo to showcase organic vegetables
The Northwest and Rocky Mountain Regional Food Business Center will organize an expo at the Missoula County Department of Ecology and Extension.
The Montana Organic Vegetable Expo is a two-day event where people can learn about many agricultural topics from experienced speakers. The presentations offered at the expo will cover topics like weed management, practical produce safety, and managing farm employees. People can also hear about cropping systems and pest management. The keynote speakers will include Atina Diffley, Martin Diffley, and Dr. Eric Gallandt. The Diffleys wrote Turn Here Sweet Corn, and Dr. Gallandt teaches at the University of Maine.
The Northwest and Rocky Mountain Regional Food Business Center is an organization that is co-led by Oregon State University and Colorado State University. The group supports local farms and food-related businesses by providing them with economic opportunities. Many events are organized by the food business center, including Native Grown and Gathered: Strengthening Food Sovereignty in Indian Country and the Food Hub Training Series.
The expo on organic vegetables will be held from January 9th to January 10th. The registration fee is $75 per guest, which includes the cost of food and beverages served at the expo. Farms can pay $120 for four of their representatives to attend the event. All guests must register by January 1st. Business centers in charge of these expos may use flyer printing to inform people about their programs.
