USA Today is holding a ‘10 Best’ contest to find the best zoo in the country, and St. Louis is in the running, according to an article in the Riverfront Times.
Until the deadline, people can vote up to once per day to make sure the St. Louis Zoo beats the other finalists, of which there are 19 including heavyweights like Chicago and San Diego.
The zoo is located in Forest Park, the largest urban park in the country, comprising 1,371 acres. A number of attractions are located there in addition to the zoo, such as the Missouri History Museum and the Saint Louis Art Museum. The zoo itself has free admission to everyone, and exhibits over 600 species of animals. The facility is divided into six zones, including Sea Lion Sound.
The paper ran the same contest in 2014, and the Toledo Zoo beat St. Louis. This year, Toledo is not on the list, but competition is stiff. At the time the article was published, St. Louis was in second place, behind Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium.
People who want to vote can so do until 11:00 am, Central Standard Time, on Monday, March 27. The list of best 10 zoos will be revealed on March 31.
Organizations like this can benefit if they work with a postcard printing company to create a card for residents urging them to vote.
