St. Louis will be holding a Santa-themed 5K in December to earn money for the Saint Louis Crisis Nursery.
Santas on the Loose is an annual race where participants are encouraged to dress in Santa costumes as they run through the streets of historic Webster Groves. The first 450 athletes to cross the finish line will get a special finisher’s medal for their efforts. Those in the 5K will also receive a long sleeve shirt. Water will only be served at the finish line, so attendees are asked to bring their own fluids to the race.
The Saint Louis Crisis Nursery is an organization that provides free services to children up to age 12. The group aims to prevent child abuse by giving kids a safe haven away from bad situations. More than 120,000 children have been assisted by the nursery, and 99% of the young people who enter the organization’s program remain free from abuse. The center offers services such as play therapy and family counseling.
The Santa-themed 5K will be held on Saturday, December 3 at 8:00 am. The cost is $35 to enter the race, though the price will increase as the event date gets closer. Those interested in volunteering for the activity can help with tasks such as distributing race packets and stuffing swag Bags. Organizations that hold holiday 5Ks such as this may add promotional Pens to their gift Bags.
