Fans of live Christmas music can attend a performance by The Bach Society of St. Louis in December at the 560 Music Center in University City.
The Christmas Candlelight Concert is an event where people can hear classic Christmas songs like O Come, All Ye Faithful and Gloria performed by a professional orchestra. The concert will also feature vocals from experienced singers like Josefien Stoppelenburg and Kate Tombaugh. Stoppelenburg is a soprano, and Tombaugh is a mezzo-soprano. The Bach Society of St. Louis is a group that is dedicated to performing pieces from Johann Sebastian Bach and other classical composers. The society was established by Dr. William Heyne in 1941 to help more people hear the works of Bach. The band is directed by A. Dennis Sparger, a graduate of the University of Illinois and Eastern Illinois University who has earned several awards. He is also a member of the American Choral Directors Association.
