St. Louis County offers free flu shots

With the flu season in full swing, and a high number of cases being reported, the St. Louis County Department of Health has stepped in to help people stay well by providing free vaccinations against flu.

The director of the department, Dr. Delores J. Gunn, has praised vaccinations not only for protecting the person who gets the shot, but also protecting those around him or her. If a person never catches the flu, he or she cannot spread it to others.

One clinic has already taken place in the northern part of the county, at the John C. Murphy Health Center on Hanley Road, Berkeley. It ran from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm on Tuesday, December 9.

Those who missed out on that occasion still have an opportunity though, as a second clinic is scheduled for this week. It will be held at the Local Union Hall #110, on Lindbergh Boulevard in Sunset Hills, in the South County, tomorrow (December 16). The hours for this clinic are also 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Residents who cannot attend these clinics should check the department's website to find other locations that are offering flu shots. Health department officials could work with a postcard printing company to devise an item to mail across the area, giving locations and times of the free shot clinics.
