Mardi Gras is traditionally celebrated in New Orleans, but the party has spread to cities across the country, including St. Louis.
Molly's in Soulard is the place to be to take part in the Mardi Gras Experience at Molly's. The annual event is popular and sells out each year, so interested parties are encouraged to buy tickets soon.
The tickets are all-inclusive, and allow attendees to enjoy an open bar; six DJs; two stages; a heated, covered patio; clean, indoor, heated bathrooms; and in-and-out privileges. Party-goers will also be able to purchase food.
For those who want a little extra, there is a VIP option that includes reserved seating in a VIP Cabana, a special entrance; tableside service provided by a host; and mixers and spirits of the guest's choice. VIPs will receive complimentary Mardi Gras gear including shirts, masks, beads, and more, and lunch will be served at their table. There are only 5 of these special Cabanas available.
The tradition of Mardi Gras goes back to Roman days, and their festivals of Lupercalia and Saturnalia. Today, “Fat Tuesday” - the translation of the French term - is a day to indulge before Lent, the period between Ash Wednesday and Easter, begins. This year Mardi Gras is February 25.
