People who cannot get enough of thrill rides have a new reason to smile, because on September 3, Six Flags St. Louis announced a new ride—the Fireball.
The stomach-churning attraction is described as a single loop in which riders travel back and forth like a pendulum, going higher each time, until they finally build up enough velocity to turn completely upside down.
The Fireball will tower seven stories, and riders will sit face-to-face and back-to-back. One of the highlights of the ride is the fact that riders will be suspended upside down for some moments before the ride starts down again. The height requirement to get on the Fireball is 48 inches.
The Fireball will be located in the park's Illinois section, where it will take the spot formerly occupied by the Rush Street Flyer. Park officials anticipate opening the Fireball in the spring of 2016.
Elizabeth Gotway, Six Flag St. Louis's public relations manager, believes the ride will be a favorite with both families and teens, because anticipation is already high, and the ride has a number of thrilling elements built in. She added the Fireball will be particularly good for families, since two family members will be going backward at the same time as two others are going forward. It is the first time the park has featured a ride with this configuration.
Park officials might work with a banner printing company on a banner to display when the ride opens.
