Music Record Shop opens between Ready Room and Demo

The Music Record Shop has left its home in Kirkwood and quietly relocated to the Grove. Owner Mark Carter recently told the Riverfront Times that the Grove is St. Louis’ new hot spot.

With bars, restaurants, microbreweries, and coffee houses all in the area in addition to music venues, Carter told the blog that he had heard the area’s developers wanted to attract a retail music store. He visited the space, found the store would be in close proximity to both the Ready Room and Demo, and worked to make a deal for the space.

According to the Riverfront Times, the storefront of the Music Record Shop is unassuming; the store is filled with new vinyl records in many different genres, both reissues and new releases. The location also has sells CDs and cassettes, though these tend to be from indie labels.

When a retail store relocates, it often needs to visit a Print company to recreate items like Business Cards and advertising Flyers.

Carter explained to the Riverfront Times that his store focuses on local music and events, as well as buying in bulk from overseas suppliers, to get rid of the garage sale feel that some vinyl stops have. Currently, the store is open from noon to 8:00pm on Tuesday through Sunday, but it does stay open later in conjunction with some shows at the next-door stages.
