In conjunction with a Heidelberg Stahlfolder Flexomailer, several of Kodak's systems aided the personalization of a self-mailer during finishing. They benefited from flexible positioning, with the ability to Print varied data at up to 152m/min. Each print head can produce print up to 106mm wide.
Kodak's Ursula Voss-Eiden explained some of the advantages of this configuration over laser systems for imprinting.
"Traditionally, variable information is imprinted into preprinted offset sheets on laser systems, in a separate production step. Compared to laser imprinting, the PROSPER S-Series Imprinting Systems offer users more flexibility and enables them to personalize products much faster and more cost-effectively."
She added that the results of the demonstration showed high quality printing, with solid density and sharp pictures, graphics, logos, text and barcodes. This series of imprinting systems works with the company's Stream Inkjet Technology and uses water-based inks on a wide range of paper stock. The setup is ideal for catalog printing, flyer printing, postcard printing and other inserts for newspapers and magazines. There are two other imprinting systems in the Kodak family - the S10 and the S20.
