St. Louis is considering building a new NFL stadium near the city's iconic Gateway Arch.
The move is not related to the fact that Stan Kroenke, who owns the St. Louis Rams, is working with a group building a stadium in Los Angeles. Rumors have been flying that the Rams will be leaving St. Louis, but nothing firm has been decided. St. Louis developers say the new stadium is not just about keeping the rams in the city, but also changing perceptions of St. Louis itself.
Plans for the new stadium call for the open-air, 64,000-seat arena to be built on approximately 90 acres located on the riverfront in north St. Louis. The site is approximately half a mile from the Arch. The stadium would take about four years to build, with construction starting in 2016 and finishing in 2020. The price tag is estimated at between $860m and $985m.
In addition to football, the new stadium would be designed to draw in a Major League Soccer team, as well as other important events like the Final Four. The stadium, like the work near the Gateway Arch, is designed to revitalize the city.
Planners could work with a flyer printing company to create a mailer for residents, showing the design of the new stadium and its importance to the city.
