St. Louis university reveals renovations
After two years of construction, a university in St. Louis has opened new renovations to its students.
Washington University remodeled Danforth Campus's east end at a cost of $360m, which is the largest investment of capital made in the history of the school. The so-called ‘East End Transformation’ included construction of five new buildings, with a sixth still to come late in 2020. A new green area, Tisch Park, brings life to a neglected area on the main campus.
The new buildings will serve students mainly in the disciplines of design, architecture, and engineering. They can all be reached by going through a semi-underground parking garage that holds 790 vehicles.
The university faced the task of meeting the educational and research needs of today's faculty and students, and at the same time, keeping the concept of open space. Officials noted that the final result is a combination of a college campus and public park that strengthens the connections between the university and Forest Park, which is nearby. Brochure printing can provide booklets that describe the renovations in situations like this.
The school's chief administration officer and executive vice chancellor, Hank Webber, said the renovation was anything but easy, but despite that, it was still fun. He added he had seen a number of plans for the East End Transformation project for over ten years before any ground was broken. McCarthy Building Companies was the construction manager for the work.
