St. Louis to host country/metal crossover
A multi-talented musician with roots in both metal and country will be playing in St. Louis soon.
Aaron Lewis is the founding member of Staind, an alternative metal band, where he sang lead vocals and handled rhythm guitar. Staind started out singing covers, playing songs by Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots, and similar heavy-metal bands. They released their debut album, “Tormented,” in 1996, and were active until 2012, when they took a hiatus. In 2014, they took another break, and in 2019, announced they would be performing live again in 2020, although plans have been affected by this year’s pandemic.
Hit Parader placed Lewis at #49 on its “Top 100 Heavy Metal Vocalists” in 2006, but his grandfather loved country music, and Lewis heard it as a child. He became reengaged with it after touring with Kid Rock, a fellow rocker who also occasionally sings country, and began developing a solo career while he was still with Staind. He released “Town Line,” his debut EP in 2011, and in 2012 he dropped “The Road,” his first full-length solo album of country music.

“Aaron Lewis shared his great talent . . . in an intimate show. No frills, no fluff. Just Aaron, a guitar (3, actually), and a mic. Can’t wait to go again.”
