The Missouri Botanical Garden in St. Louis will hold an event in August where people can learn about notable female artists.
Artists in the Shadows: Women Who Turned Gardens into Art is a program that showcases beautiful works of art featuring gardens. Each creator featured in the presentation is a woman who challenged the notion that only men can be fine artists. The presenter for the lecture will be Carolyn Bennett. The event is part of the Missouri Botanical Garden’s Member Speaker Series and will take place at the Jack C. Taylor Visitor Center.
Bennett is an accomplished writer and lecturer who leads discussions on topics like garden conservation and design. She went to London's Architectural Association School of Architecture and has been featured in publications such as Pacific Horticulture and Shaping the American Landscape. Bennett is also one of the founders of the Garden School Foundation, an organization that offers in-depth garden-based education to children.
The presentation will be on Tuesday, August 6 from 11:00 am to noon. Doors to the lecture will open at 10:30 am. The activity is free for members of the Missouri Botanical Garden, though all attendees are required to register. Educational attractions that offer similar events to this can make indoor ads for their lectures by using poster printing services.
